If you are moving house or connecting gas for the first time, there are a number of things you should know about having gas connected. Firstly, if you’ve moved to a new house that has not had a gas connection before, you will need to have a licensed gas fitter install a meter box to the premises. From there you need to set up an account with a gas provider, and there are a number of steps you will need to take to make this happen.
The connection involves installing a gas service pipe and meter for existing homes, which is why it takes a few days; however with new homes it can take up to two to three weeks for a connection to be complete. Once completed your gas installer can then assist you with installation of gas appliances. It is important to know that in Western Australia, licensed installers must be used.

Once the installation is complete, your local Pascoe’s Gas & Water gas fitter will need to lodge a Completion Notice with the Gas Network Operator.
