Leaking Hot Water

Hot water leaks are common with aging tanks and unfortunately, because there are a number of different types of hot water systems like gas, electric and solar, there are also many reasons they can begin to leak.

If you do notice a leak in your hot water tank, there are a few immediate steps you should take. First, you need to shut the hot water system down; which is something you can do yourself. To do this, it’s simple. For gas systems, there is a small tap located near the system which you can turn off (similar to the gas bottle on your barbecue). Electrical – hit the switch. Then call a qualified technician from Pascoe’s Gas, Water & Electrical and wait for us to arrive.

It is important for one of our plumbers to check and see where the leak is coming from, as there are many different reasons your system could be leaking. If the leak is coming from the temperature and pressure valve, or the drain valve, it could mean one of the valves is defective. In this case, if water is not shut off, it can cause damage and create costly water bills.
